This kind of image was commonly found in magazines during the 1950s to show the ideal family of the time. With just looking at this image, what do you think life was meant to be like for the 1950s suburban woman with a husband and children? What kind of image was meant to be portrayed?

1950 Chevrolet Suburban for sale. This great looking, Seafoam Green Suburban is ready for a new home. Under the hood is a new 350 CID V8 engine with only 2,000 miles hooked up to a 700R4 transmission that will take you anywhere you need to go. The front end has been updated to a Monte Carlo SS subframe and there is a 1987 Trans Am rear end to handle the updated powerplant. The gray interior has also been updated to more modern leather bucket seats up front and bench seat in back for more comfort over the original seats. Other options include A/C, AM/FM/CD radio, power steering, power brakes (disc front/drum rear), tilt steering wheel, seat belts, aluminum alloy wheels, and radial tires. But underneath the uniform houses lining the curved, meticulously gardened roads of Levittown lies a much more turbulent story. Although 1950s suburbia conjures visions of traditional family life, idyllic domesticity and stability, the story of the suburbization of America is also one of exclusion, segregation and persecution. Levittown itself arguably embodied the best and worst of the postwar American story; it was a result of the entrepreneurship and ingenuity that has come to define the American spirit, but it also participated in the violent prejudice that has also been part of American history.
