After reading the first book in the series, Bad Girls Don’t Die, I couldn’t wait to pick up From Bad to Cursed. I loved the book because of the exciting entertainment but I was irritated about the ending. The ending was well-written, but the way the author moved into a different direction made it disappointing. Alexis starts the book with a proud and secure life. she has a a boyfriend, a group of friends, a sister, and a proud family. In the end she has nothing.
The second book in the Bad Girls Don’t Die series, From Bad to Cursed, was absolutely brilliant. The book, designed for teenagers, is creative and with original ideas. The characters are realistic, unlike some books where the characters act too old or young for their age. I could easily picture the events taking place in this book and it was nearly impossible to put down. I loved the first book Bad Girls Don’t Die, and From Bad to Cursed kept my interest from the very beginning and my high expectations were met.
Besides the ending, I loved this book. Katie Alender has kept me on my toes with her books and when I finish, I just want more. Katie created the perfect teenager who is funny, smart, and the perfect heroine, but who also has normal human feelings that some books from a teenage point of view fail to create. When reading From Bad to Cursed, I was envious of Alexis’ and Kasey’s relationship. Alexis cares for her sister and would give up everything for her to be safe and only wants to help Kasey, even though Kasey is convinced she can handle Aralt herself. But as the book progresses, you see how close the sisters really are, even though they bicker and have their disagreements like most siblings.
Many series start off with an amazing book, but the sequels are disappointing. Katie Alender’s series, though, is nothing like this. From Bad to Cursed is an amazing book that just added to the effect of Alexis’ journey, and didn’t disappoint my expectations of the seriess
